Hey hey...
today I just want to vent a little bit about my love-hate relationship with LinkedIn. I don't really know why this is the case for me, but I just feel this way.
Well... First of all, I'm not a huge fan of social media in general. It offers a lot, even some great things to learn if you look in the right places. But it feels like a massive time sink as well, and I don't think I'm alone when it comes to this aspect.
While LinkedIn doesn't serve the same purpose as other social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook for example. It's still one, and that comes with those types of quirks. A lot of "weird" people doing strange posts and trying to boast themselves as higher than they actually are. Not too different compared to real life, but it's in a concentrated form.
On the other hand, though, it has this strange vibe that distances it further from those types of social media, which I can't put into words. Also, the fact that, you can connect with all sorts of different people from around the world, talk with them and ask them out. Especially if you're trying to get some knowledge into different jobs and job profiles this is an invaluable resource for that type of stuff.
This came in very handy at two key moments in my life. The first one being that one time when I (as of a larger group) looked for a substitute lecturer for a university course. The second one was during my application for my Master's degree program where I (or rather with a friend) could connect with Alumni of that university and could get advice from them.
Great. So you should be loving LinkedIn, right?
I don't know. That's the reason for this title and blog post.
I still feel this way because of my dislike for that social media aspect and everything that comes with it, which I explained earlier.
Hopefully, you got my mixed feelings on this topic. Or I'm just too confused in my mind, and I should learn to love it more...
See ya.
